Stir-fried Pea Sprouts with Belacan

Tuesday, September 8, 2009

Pea sprouts or oftenly called Dou Miao. I get to know this vegetable few years back. This vegetable is one of the frequently ordered stir-fry vege dishes that we ate when we were eating out in the Chinese 'Dai Chou' places. One of the commonly cooking method for them will be simple stir-fry with garlic. So for tonight dinner, I tried to be more adventurous with them - by using belacan. Result - it was similar to stir-fried kangkung with belacan. Yummy!

Ingredients

200g pea sprouts
1 tbsp dried shrimps, soaked, and minced:
1 onions, diced
2 cloves garlic, diced
1 red chillies, seeded (optional)
1 1/2 tbsp belacan granules
salt to taste
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp chicken stock

Methods
  1. Heat wok over high heat until hot, then add in oil.
  2. Stir fry dried shrimps until aromatic. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir-fry well.
  3. Put in pea sprouts and stir-fry briskly for one to two minutes.
  4. Add seasoning to mix.
  5. Dish out and serve hot.
