An Afternoon in Ulu Yam

Sunday, May 31, 2009

On Sunday morning, we received a phone call from a friend CW asking us whether we will be interested to go for lunch in Ulu Yam to sample the famous Loh Mee in the area. His phone call came in just at the right time when there's a sudden electricity failure in our housing area. OMG, that's the third time this happens in our place. So we decided to join him and other friends for the makan trip.

After picking up another friend, we started our journey to Ulu Yam. It takes us about 45 minutes to reach the place. When we arrived at the restaurant, it was packed with customers even though the lunch time had passed. Hmm, I guessed there's no official lunch hour especially during weekend.. Hehe..

The name of the restaurant- Restoran Aik Khoon

Varieties of dishes available here..

Though there is a huge crowd in the restaurant, our food arrive at our table about 20 minutes later. Some of the food ordered during our visit there :

The famous Loh Mee

Fried Kuay Teow aka 'Kon Chau Hor'

Steamed La-la

Thai Style Crispy Tauhu

Stir Fry Vege

Overall, the food was good except the vegetables. It a bit too oily for my taste. Their signature Loh Mee was definately a killer and I love the way the way the prepared the tauhu, deep-fried to perfection; the tauhu was so cripsy.
